"Theocratic Warfare" and the Annual Report
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inone of the things i certainly noticed as a jw, and even during the time i was in bethel, was the complexities of reporting "truth.".
beginning with an observation on a personal level, i consider myself an honest person.
but something happened along the way, beginning when i pioneered.

How can I convince my mother the JW's are wrong?
by schnare inthis is probably going to be a long post, since i am going to be added some parts of our conversations on facebook.
my mother has been involved sort of with the jw's, since she was younger.
so she's always kind of believed in their stuff.

Ask her to explain what that scripture means, what was Jesus saying? Then show her (with WT articles) how the WBTS fulfilled that role thoroughly.

(Luke
21:7-8) . . .Then they questioned him, saying: “Teacher, when will these things actually be, and what will be the sign when these things are destined to occur?” 8 He said: “Look out that YOU are not misled; for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The due time has approached.’ Do not go after them. -

Things you must avoid at all cost!!
by redvip2000 ini'd like to ask if you recall certain things you were forced to avoid or throw out because they were supposedly demonic, or connected with the occult, or even just plain bad.. i remember we were told to avoid the harry potter movies and books, because he is a magician.
also acdc music.. lol.. .
and oh yeah, during a talk an elder specifically mentioned the show "married with children", because it was a bad example of how a family should behave.

Recently (2009) during a morning worship, Gerrit Loesch (i know, i know) stated Pre-Kindergarten should not be used by Christians. If a parent is a single parent and has no choice but to work, then it may be ok. Otherwise, no. And that's because they expose children to worldly influences and celebrations. So parents should stop being lazy.
Any recent bethelites in here that can back up my stories? I have TONS of morning worship/watchtower/special lecture notes and such that looking back, I'm like, WTH!
Locally:
Avoid 2 door cars (selfishness)
Sports jersies (idolatry)
Not getting married in KH
Parties bigger than 30 people
Parties
Anything with even a remote sense of enjoyment
Anything not centered on WBTS (like this trend I've seen more and more recently, where during a gathering, someone inevitably pulls out a song book. People's face at first is like "HELL NAH". But in order to be good Christians, a sing-a-long starts)
